Putrajaya: The name and logo of the new Everly Putrajaya, scheduled to be officially opened in November this year, were finally unveiled last Tuesday.

The unveiling took place shortly after the signing of an agreement between Indah Putrajaya Sdn Bhd (IP), a wholly owned subsidiary of Putrajaya Holdings Sdn Bhd (PJH) and Value Hospitality Limited (VH).

The signing ceremony was held at Alamanda Shoppimg Centre, Putrajaya; IP was represented by the Chief Executive Officer of Putrajaya Holdings, Datuk Azlan Abdul Karim while VH was represented by its Managing Director, Dennis Tan.

According to the agreement, VH will acquire the rights to manage and operate the hotel for 10 years with an option for further extension.

Everly Putrajaya will be PJH’s second hotel in Putrajaya.

Speaking at the ceremony, Azlan said that based on Tourism Malaysia’s 2010-2011 hotel guests statistics by locality, Putrajaya recorded a 12.24 per cent increase in numbers, the highest among the states in Malaysia.

Fourteen of the over 190 events planned for this year by the local authority at Putrajaya are international events while another 24 are national events.

With the signing, Value Hospitality will have the right to manage and operate the hotel for 10 years with an option for further extension.

Managing director of Value Hospitality Dennis Tan, in the statement, said it had saved in excess of RM5 million in construction costs for the owner prior to the opening.

In view of this, the number of hotel guests is expected to improve.

"In line with the Greater KL programme to create Putrajaya as a vibrant city, Putrajaya Holdings is fulfilling a need for a business hotel in Putrajaya which will cater to the business needs of the population as well as tourists."

"We are building a three-star hotel with four-star facilities, that is a chic stay-away from home and yet provides a luxurious lifestyle that is affordable and practical," added Azlan.

Strategically located in Precint 1, Everly Putrajaya will be part of the commercial waterfront development consisting of a 15 storey three-star hotel and a 10-storey office tower.

Azlan hoped that the hotel would further enhance the vibrancy of Putrajaya, especially within the Alamanda Shopping Centre, the main shopping and leisure attraction in Putrajaya.

Everly Putrajaya, when completed, will have 382 guest rooms, a banquet hall that can hold upto 1,000 people, eight meeting rooms, a coffee house, a cafe lounge, an infinity swimming pool as well as an Executive and Air Crew Lounge.

A fitness centre and spa are scheduled to open for business towards the end of the first year of operation.

"The planning and development surrounding the area demand that we work closely with the local council as well as other authorities to ensure that the hotel and office development achieves the Green Building Index certified rating upon its completion."

"This development will be PJH’s second commercial development to be rated as a green building after Menara PJH in Precint 2, in line with Putrajaya Holdings’ commitment to transform the built environment by reducing negative environmental impact through sustainable green building design and practices."

"We are also delighted with the progress that has been made on site so far and the soft launch is planned in the fourth quarter of 2012," said Azlan.

Meanwhile, Tan said that VH was proud to manage the property especially since VH had been involved in the hotel’s technical design and construction for the last three years.

“In fact, we are also delighted to have saved RM5 million in construction costs for the owner prior to the opening.”

"With its strategic location in the administrative city coupled with the comprehensive and modern infrastructure, Everly Putrajaya has the potential of becoming a significant businessman’s hotel and meeting and seminars venue in Putrajaya," added Tan.

Established in 1990, the VH group currently manages five hotels in the nation including hotels that bear the Everly and Prescott brands.

VH employs over 350 professionals in all the properties under its management, with expertise ranging from hotel technical consultation and design, construction management, turn around to investment advice.

Currently, the other properties managed by VH include the ParkCity Everly Hotel Bintulu, ParkCity Everly Hotel Miri, Prescott Hotel Klang, Prescott Inn Kuala Lumpur (Medan Tuanku) and Prescott Metro Inn, Kajang.

Putrajaya Holdings Sdn Bhd, the master developer for Putrajaya, was incorporated in October, 1995.

Its shareholders are Petroliam Nasional Berhad(PETRONAS) with a majority stake, Khazanah Nasional Berhad, the investment arm of the Government of Malaysia and Kumpulan Wang Amanah Negara.

As a master developer, Putrajaya Holdings works hand in hand with the city’s local authority, Perbadanan Putrajaya to implement the master plan that envisages Putrajaya as ‘A Garden City’ An Intelligent City.’

Also present at the recent signing ceremony were VH’s Director of Operations, John Augustin and Assistant VP for Legal and Human Resources, Lalitha Panjaseram.
